LASERS TREATMENTS
‘LASER’ is an acronym for Light Amplification by the Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Over the last 20 years, advances in laser technology have remarkably revolutionised their use in the treatment of common skin conditions, congenital skin diseases (like vascular, pigmented lesions, etc.), skin tumors, removal of tattoos, scars, etc. Also, a wide spectrum of laser and light technologies is available for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation.
Multiple treatment sessions are required for all types of lasers, every 3-4weeks for over 3 to 6 months. The noticeable effect is usually seen after 2-3 sessions depending on the patient’s skin quality, texture, tone, etc. With regular follow-ups and consistent treatment sessions, effects can last for 12-18 months.
Risks/ Complications -Side effects of treatment
include post-operative tenderness, redness, swelling, and scarring. The redness and tenderness last for about 1 week, while new skin grows over the area where the damaged skin has been removed by the laser treatments. Another issue post-procedure is an increase/decrease in pigmentation which gradually fades away.
